Haygood Plumbing helps homeowners in Nebraska get connected with independent plumbers nearby. We're not a plumbing contractor. We take your call and connect you with a local plumber who can do the work.

Nebraska winters bring hard freezes and strong winds, which can freeze pipes along exterior walls and in crawlspaces. Spring storms test sump pumps and drains, and hard water is common across much of the state. Older homes in Omaha, Lincoln and smaller towns often have cast-iron or clay sewer lines, while rural properties tend to use wells and septic systems.

Once connected, the plumber will inspect the problem and give you a price before starting. They're independent, so pricing and timing are up to them. Plumbing licenses in Nebraska are issued locally, so ask your plumber what they hold. Calls from Nebraska are free.

Our water heater was leaking and the garage floor was wet. I called Haygood and they lined me up with a plumber in Lincoln who replaced the tank and added a drain pan. He walked me through the new thermostat settings.

Toilet clog that a plunger couldn't touch. The plumber pulled the toilet and found a kid's toy wedged in the trapway. We all had a laugh, and he reset the toilet with a new wax ring.

Frozen kitchen line in Nebraska during a cold snap. The plumber thawed it slowly, checked for cracks, and added insulation behind the cabinet. We had to wait a few hours because of how many calls were coming in, but he was apologetic and thorough.

Frequently Asked Plumbing Questions

Common questions about finding a plumber in Nebraska.

Talk to a real person

How does Haygood Plumbing work?

Haygood Plumbing is a referral service. We do not send out our own crews. When you call (866) 643-1110, we take down your address and a short description of the problem, then connect you with an independent, locally operated plumber who serves your area and handles that type of job. From there, you talk directly with the plumber about the work, the schedule, and the price. Any agreement for the repair is between you and the plumber who takes your job.

What information should I have ready when I call?

It helps to have your full address, a short description of what is happening, when it started, and whether you were able to shut off the water. Mention the type of fixture or equipment involved, such as a water heater, toilet, or sump pump, and its age if you know it. If the problem involves a sewer backup or gas smell, say so right away. Photos can also help once you are talking with the plumber.

What are the signs of a sewer line problem?

Watch for several drains backing up at once, toilets gurgling when a sink or tub drains, sewage coming up in the lowest drain in the house, a sewer odor indoors or in the yard, or a patch of lawn that stays soggy or unusually green. Those signs usually point to the main sewer line rather than a single fixture. A plumber can clear the line and run a camera through it to find the cause.

Should I repair or replace my water heater?

It depends on the age of the unit and what has failed. Problems like a bad thermocouple, gas valve, heating element, or thermostat are often worth repairing. A tank that is leaking from the body, badly rusted, or near the end of its expected life is usually a candidate for replacement. Ask the plumber to explain the cost of each option and how much life the current unit likely has left.

What should I do if a pipe bursts before the plumber arrives?

Shut off the main water valve right away. It is often near where the water line enters the house, in a basement or garage, or at the meter by the street. Then open a faucet on the lowest floor to drain the remaining water from the lines. If water is near outlets or appliances, turn off power at the breaker only if you can reach it safely. Move valuables out of the way and take photos for your records.
